Ask Again
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”
— Matthew 7:7 (NKJV)
REFLECTION
There are times when we pray once and then quietly assume that if God intended to answer, He would have done so already. We hesitate to ask again because we do not want to appear impatient, demanding, or lacking in faith.
But Jesus teaches something very different: “Ask… seek… knock.”
The language of Matthew 7 carries the idea of continuing—keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking. Prayer is not always a single request offered once. Sometimes faith returns to the same door.
Asking again does not mean that God did not hear us the first time. Nor does persistence force God to act. Persistent prayer keeps us engaged with God while we wait for His answer and keeps our hearts open to what He may be doing.
Perhaps you have prayed about something for a long time. The answer has not come, the circumstances have not changed, and you wonder whether you should simply stop asking.
Jesus says, Ask again.
Not because God is reluctant, but because prayer is relationship. Every time we return, we are choosing once more to place the matter—and ourselves—in His hands.
PRAYER
Lord, You know the prayers I have prayed more than once and the answers I am still waiting to see. Keep me from becoming discouraged or assuming that Your silence means You are absent. Teach me to keep asking, keep seeking, and keep knocking—not because I doubt that You hear me, but because I trust You enough to keep coming back. Give me faith to persist and grace to receive Your answer in Your time and in Your way. Amen.
JOURNAL PROMPT
What have I stopped asking God for because the answer has not yet come? What would it look like for me to ask again—trusting both His timing and His answer?
