Walk With God
“And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.”
— Genesis 5:24 (KJV)
REFLECTION
Yes. The Scripture is now correct and cleanly placed. Genesis 5:24 gives us exactly the foundation we need.
Now replace the old Day 14 reflection with this:
REFLECTION
Enoch did not simply pray to God. He walked with God.
That simple description points to something deeper than moments of prayer. Prayer had become a way of life—a continuing awareness of God’s presence woven into the ordinary movements of his day.
Walking with God means we do not leave Him behind when our prayer time ends. We carry the conversation with us. We speak. We listen. We notice. We respond. And over time, communion becomes companionship.
A walk also suggests movement. Enoch was not standing still with God; he was going somewhere with God. Step by step, day by day, his life was being shaped by the One with whom he walked.
The goal of prayer is not simply to spend time with God. It is to learn to live with God.
PRAYER
Lord, I spend so much of my prayer time speaking that I sometimes forget to listen. Quiet my heart before You. Help me recognize Your voice through Your Word and the leading of Your Spirit. Keep me from becoming so focused on the answer I want that I miss what You are trying to say. Give me the heart of Samuel that responds, “Speak; for thy servant heareth.” Teach me not only to speak to You, but to listen for You. Amen.
JOURNAL PROMPT
What might God be trying to say that you have been too busy speaking—or too focused on an answer—to hear? What would it look like today to become quiet and listen?
